Automation Eng Sr Technician - 3rd Shift
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a global leader in the design and production of munitions and related systems. They are seeking an experienced Automation Engineering Sr. Technician to develop, design, build, and test robotic platforms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance robotic applications.
Manufacturing
Responsibilities
Develop, design, build and test robotic platforms from prototype through product commercialization
Create an integrated autonomous interface, mobility, communication, and human-robot interaction
Work with cross-functional teams to understand opportunities for robotic applications
Programs and troubleshoots PLCs and associated control systems
Reads and understands equipment schematics
Designs simple electronic control systems, specifies control equipment, builds and installs control systems
Assists engineers with the development and implementation of automation systems or components
Programs, installs, tests, and maintains robots or automated components
Assists in the commissioning and deployment of new automation installations, conducts field trials to ensure appropriate operation, and prepares reports or records documenting actions or findings
Investigate and troubleshoots defects or bugs, complete repairs and provides preventative maintenance
Qualification
Required
Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Requires working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical scientific or operational processes
Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise
Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods
Works with a moderate degree of supervision
Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
Assists engineers with the development and implementation of automation systems or components
Programs, installs, tests, and maintains robots or automated components
Assists in the commissioning and deployment of new automation installations, conducts field trials to ensure appropriate operation, and prepares reports or records documenting actions or findings
Investigate and troubleshoots defects or bugs, complete repairs and provides preventative maintenance
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
May need to stand for long periods of time
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
May be requested to work a different shift
