Responsibilities
The Cytotechnologist prepares, screens, and evaluates cytologic specimens to detect cellular abnormalities for diagnostic interpretation
Ensures quality and accuracy of laboratory results in accordance with departmental procedures, CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards
Performs bedside tissue adequacy assessments for bronchoscopy and interventional radiology procedures
Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements and demonstrates service excellence in interactions with patients, providers, and staff
This position provides cytology services at both Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center
Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree required
Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program required
State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License required
Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification required
Preferred
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board Certification preferred
Minimum one (1) year of Cytotechnologist experience preferred
