Responsibilities
Serve as a contributing member of the automated equipment development team, working with internal customers to define system requirements and performance specifications
Design automated systems, subsystems, and components using SolidWorks, including overall system layout and detailed mechanical designs
Select and integrate standard automation components, including motion states, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, tooling, and structural frames, based on defined requirements
Layout the system and review the initial design with the customer
Prepare and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) to support system build and future expansion
Document designs, analyses, and revisions in the Agile database in accordance with established documentation standards
Conduct design reviews with internal stakeholders and incorporate feedback to refine system performance and manufacturability
Partner with technicians and manage the system assembly. Modify and improve the system design as needed
Support the transfer of developed automation processes to manufacturing sites, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and other engineering disciplines
Qualification
Required
Mechanical engineer internship in the fiber optical communication field or 1+ yrs. of mechanical engineering experience in automated process and test systems development is must
Need to have automation equipment development related engineering knowledge such as robotics, software engineering, electrical engineering, motion control, and vision applications
Experience with semi-automated and automated processing systems
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, such as Power Point, Excel, and Word
Experience in wafer bar level or die level handling
Meticulous and thorough; diligent with design documentation
Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English is required
Integrity and self-motivated
Ability to work in fast paced team and independent setting
Knowledge of machining, vision, and electrical engineering is useful
Able to work in the clean room environment when needed
Preferred
Familiar with small tooling fixture design
Knowledge of fiber optical datacom and telecom technologies
