They are seeking a Claims Intern to assist with various tasks related to the management of professional and general liability claims in the UHS Corporate Insurance Claims Department from May to August 2024.

Responsibilities

Assists the program managers, assistant director, claims analysts and director in their management of the professional and general liability claims by performing tasks as assigned

Tasks may include data entry, claims data analysis, working in partnership with Risk Management colleagues on joint projects to assist in risk/claim mitigation in compliance with the UHS claims philosophy and guidelines and TERM program

Required

Active enrollment or completion of a college degree program in finance, insurance, risk management or related program

GPA Minimum: 3.00

Strong interest in and some knowledge of insurance, tort law, risk finance and claims

Introductory level knowledge of insurance, risk finance, legal concepts appropriate with an advanced student in the insurance, finance or risk management field of study

Ability to read and understand (with guidance) interpret legal and business documents, including insurance policies, spreadsheets, legal documents, and case summations

Working knowledge and competence using standard PC software programs, including Microsoft Office

Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment
