Responsibilities

Performs inspections of all mechanical components, including work and materials, used or installed in new construction, additions, alterations, and repairs
Prepares written comments on installations found to be deficient, based on code, and ensures completion of corrections prior to approval
Assists in resolving problems or answering questions by interaction with contractors, owners, builders, Building Officials, and inspectors
Assists in the investigation of complaints of defective mechanical installations which are reported as safety or other hazards; notifies the responsible person of defects and issues oral and written instructions for correction
Attends training classes, meetings and seminars in order to maintain certification
Participates with all staff members in pre-hurricane preparations and post-storm recovery efforts
Performs other related duties as required/assigned

Required

High school diploma or GED
Licensed as a Journeyman or Certified Mechanical Contractor, or be eligible to obtain such license
Five (5) years of related work experience
Must be able to meet the certification requirements of the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals as found in Chapter 1 of the Broward County Administrative Provisions of the Florida Building Code
Certified or able to be certified by the Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board, State of Florida, in the category sought
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
