SYSTEM TECHNICIAN

The System Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of telecommunication systems through installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software components.

Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain telecommunication hardware and software systems according to company standards and industry best practices
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity and prevent service interruptions
Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, network issues, and hardware failures, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineers, field technicians, and customer support to address technical challenges and implement upgrades
Document system configurations, maintenance activities, and incident reports to support operational transparency and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
A Massachusetts Systems Technician “D” license or Journeyman “B” license, or the equivalent in other states
Proficient with residential and commercial security systems installation, programming and service, including but not limited to: Burglar Alarm Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control Systems, Video Systems, Intercom Systems, and networking
Valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle
Background checks are required
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven experience in system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting within the telecommunication industry or a similar technical environment
Basic understanding of telecommunication network architectures, protocols, and hardware components
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Preferred
Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field
Certification in relevant technologies such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent
Experience with fiber optic systems, VoIP technologies, and wireless communication equipment
Familiarity with network monitoring tools and diagnostic software
Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in telecommunication installations
Previous experience working in a fast-paced telecommunication service provider environment
