The McDowell Center for Children is seeking a part-time Mental Health Technician who will create a safe environment for residents, provide crisis intervention, and facilitate education groups and activities of daily living.

Creates a safe environment for residents

Teaches new tools for coping to residents
Provides direct resident care under the supervision of a Shift Supervisor
Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, education groups and activities of daily living
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must complete and maintain competency training in CPR, HWC and Verbal De-Escalation – aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training. Training may be obtained during first week of employment during new hire orientation
Preferred
One-year experience working with a psychiatric resident population preferred
Prefer candidates who possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors
