Development Services Technician
The City of Belleview is seeking a Development Services Technician to provide professional customer service and assist the public with development services. This role involves coordinating with Development Services staff, providing administrative assistance during the planning and development review process, and managing permit-related tasks.

Responsibilities
Assists the public in navigating the building permitting process; communicates with the permit applicants face-to-face, by telephone, and online to ensure accurate and timely information; coordinates with the Permit & Licensing Specialist on permit-related issues and scheduling
Maintains addressing, zoning, land use, special exceptions, variances, and other data in BS&A Software
Accepts payments for invoices and distributes issued permits to contractors/customers
Assembles Development Services applications and permits, including, but not limited to, building permits, site plan reviews, and business license tax applications
Processes departmental reports used in planning, building, and code enforcement activities as may be required by the City or other state or local governmental agencies, such as Marion County and the Marion County School Board; coordinates with and transmits information as requested for various agencies
Occasionally serves as the recording secretary for Development Services related boards and committees; may assist in compiling agendas, generating meeting minutes in accordance with Florida Statutes and City code and policies
Appropriately responds to or routes inquiries concerning development, planning, zoning, and code enforcement
Scans and/or prints large-scale format plans into coordinating Laserfiche files
Assist with Code Enforcement activities such as complaint intake and distribution, and provide general information to the public. Also includes assisting the Planning, Zoning & Code Specialist with composing code enforcement violation letters and mailings
Coordinates large mail-outs for planning and zoning projects
Assists in other areas of the department as directed by the department Director
Read and identify city limit boundaries, zoning, & land use on City maps
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Permit Technician Roles & Responsibility course within one year
One year of governmental experience, preferably in building, zoning, or code enforcement
Notary public within six (6) months of assignment
Valid Florida Driver's License
Ability to work effectively and courteously with the public, department heads, elected officials and other employees
Ability to follow complete written and oral directions
Ability to operate modern office equipment
Ability to read and understand computer manuals, State Building Code, City manuals, and City Code books, as well as department policies and procedures
Ability to perform a variety of clerical procedures as well as compose effective and accurate correspondence, reports, and similar materials
Ability to utilize personal computer software, including Word and Excel
Ability to learn to navigate in the City's software programs specific to the department
Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines
The ability to think and work independently
Ability to retain composure with difficult customers
