Responsibilities

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise numerous UPC student staff members
Oversee hiring, plan a weeklong intensive training, schedule management, and provide direct supervision including coaching, discipline, and professional development for student staff in the following areas: student union programming, spirit/athletic programming/tailgating, community service programming, live acts/entertainment, co-curricular inclusive programming, Mane Month programming, marketing, graphic design, and/or leadership development
Manage a portion of the student activity fee allocated to UPC ~$250,000
Work with the UPC students to learn and manage internal budgets/purchases for council events
Manage the Step Sing auxiliary budget and ticket revenue ~$20,000
Design, implement, facilitate, and evaluate over 80 campus programming/special events annually, with an emphasis on risk management for late night, weekend, and large-scale campus wide programmatic activities which enhance and promote academic success, engagement, leaderships, and/or contribute to the quality of campus life
Manage student staff compliance with university protocols and policies
Develop and facilitate student wellness programming (social, emotional/spiritual, environmental, and physical)
Ensure event project management, including marketing, catering, maintenance, security, volunteers, video/photographers, and other services needed for major events
Maintain regular office and frequent evening/weekend hours of program planning
Supervise night/weekend activities
Coordinate with various agents to bring programs, novelties, and concerts
Navigate liability issues and mitigate risks at events, arrange services, review and prepare contracts, and provide resources and collaborative opportunities to students as needed
Organize, manage, and execute co-curricular weeklong summer training program student staff
Design, edit, and maintain compliance with the operating manual and perform review annually
Provide upkeep and maintenance for the van, office, concession stand, and golf cart
Maintain frequent communication with campus partners and manage/navigate event schedules campus wide
Plan, design, and execute Step Sing (~3,000 attendees), including coordinating/hosting ~200 community college students
Facilitate contracts for artists, staging, backline, light, and sound for spring concert
Coordinate with campus wide offices and liaisons to set up logistics, planning, and facilitation of spring concert
Coordinate volunteers to help work logistics for spring concert
Partner with police department for major campus events including, pep rallies, Step Sing, and Spring Concert
Plan, coordinate, design and oversee all student homecoming activities and the homecoming spirit challenge (competition including banner drop, a pep rally, relay race, parade, and sometimes more events)
Design and review flyers, posters, and other materials prepared by students for distribution to ensure compliance with marketing rules and procedures
Process paperwork and provide logistical support for student events including scheduling facilities and space, obtaining audio-visual equipment, and securing other resources
Collaborate with campus partners and university co-curricular initiatives
Plan, implement, and evaluate specialized engagement programs (RSO fairs, Mane Month)
Assist director in coordinating and providing student leadership and club advisor training workshops
Provide leadership, mentoring, and oversight of student clubs and organizations by providing operations, guidelines, consultation, support, assistance, and advice regarding club fundraising, leadership, and related activity programming
Maintain website, social media, and other internal/external communication resources, in collaboration with the student engagement team
Oversee student engagement ticketing site, services, and sales
Serve as presenter on behalf of the center for student engagement for orientation and other preview days
Serve as an event planning campus resource for all students, faculty, and staff
Assist in the planning of numerous large-scale events such as Family Weekend, Light the Fountain, the Big Deal, and the University Awards Gala
May coordinate student trips (museums, theme parks, NASA Space and Rocket Center, historical experiences, etc.)
Serve on a myriad of departmental and/or shared governance committees as approved
Perform all other duties as assigned
Manage logistics and travel to the National Association Campus Activities (NACA) regional/national conferences with UPC
Maintain membership and active participation in NACA
Coordinate the UPC table and information at preview day and orientation

Required

Bachelor's degree is required
Prior experience with event/project management, hospitality, marketing, public relations, communications, or higher education is required
Prior involvement as a student or professional staff member in student activities, organizations, or campus programming is required
Current, valid driver's license is required

Preferred

Master's degree (higher education, business administration, education, counseling, or related field) preferred
First Aid Certification is preferred
