Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of the Payroll and Expense department, managing multiple complex payrolls weekly while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and internal controls
Serve as the subject matter expert and escalation point for complex payroll issues, developing deep expertise in payroll systems and processes
Partner with Finance and Human Resources to develop and implement best practices for payroll and expense allocation, tracking, and reporting
Develop, monitor, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure high levels of service, accuracy, and efficiency across payroll and expense functions
Lead all payroll and expense system projects and upgrades, including change management planning and cross-functional collaboration
Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives across payroll and expense operations, ensuring alignment with internal policies and external requirements
Maintain and update process documentation, policies, and procedures to support compliance and operational excellence
Identify and implement process improvements that reduce turnaround times and enhance service delivery
Oversee internal audits and manage responses to external data requests related to payroll and expense functions
Maintain senior leader visibility by proactively managing escalations and delivering consistent, high-quality service
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field AND/OR 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll operations and management, including direct team leadership
Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and interpret payroll data to inform decision-making
Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and managing complex projects
Preferred
Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies preferred (e.g., process mapping, root cause analysis, 5S, project chartering)
Proficiency in payroll systems; experience with SAP and/or ADP GlobalView strongly preferred
