Psychologist

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is dedicated to advancing pediatric care and supporting its diverse community. The Psychologist will provide consultation, assessment, and intervention services for patients diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) within an interdisciplinary clinic setting, focusing on CBT-based approaches to improve coping skills and physical functioning.

Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient, day hospital, and/or outpatient settings, and communicates with referral sources as indicated
Performs clinical services at a percent of effort as designated by supervisor
Adheres to DCAPBS productivity standards
In settings where patients are scheduled into appointments, presents an Epic schedule that rolls out, per department/division guidelines, delineating availability and anticipated vacation and conference time. Schedule must include enough openings to cover productivity expectations plus anticipated late cancellations/no shows
Follows all CHOP and DCAPBS policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative activity associated with providing direct patient care
Assure that professional practice is in accordance with applicable professional and licensing body standards
Practices as an Independent Clinician
Assures that CHOP, DCAPBS, Joint Commission and other regulatory body patient care standards are met
Assures that all CHOP and DCAPBS clinical and billing documentation standards are met
Assures that all of the above standards are met through regular and periodic direct observation of clinical activity, chart review and discussion with non-DCAPBS team members
May serve in clinical leadership roles such as:
Developing clinical and treatment protocols, peer education programs, and monitoring compliance through direct observation and chart review
Collaborating with other DCAPBS clinicians to operationalize and grow empirically-based models of care that best serve the needs of patients
Acting as a resource and mentor for DCAPBS clinicians
Demonstrating leadership in developing programs and designing/executing QI and/or patient safety initiatives
Collaborate with DCAPBS and other Department/Division colleagues to assure that patients receive care consistent with patient circumstance and need
Respond to requests for consultation and service in a timely manner
Participates in DCAPBS and CHOP committees in membership and/or leadership capacity
Work collaboratively with DCAPBS administration to support patients in being appropriately scheduled
Attends and participates in department/division/institution meetings appropriate for or required by role
Participates in education and training within the department’s training programs. This may include providing clinical supervision, lectures, and facilitated learning experiences
Establishes themselves as providing high-quality educational experiences for department trainees
Contributes to interprofessional training activities and experiences
Participates in activities of the training faculty
Engages in professional activities
Membership in national professional organizations, for example, American Psychological Association (APA)
Active in multiple DCAPBS, CHOP, regional, and national activities
Participates in the dissemination of psychological science and/or clinical care at a local, regional or national level
Demonstrates commitment to Department/Division and hospital
Completes all mandatory education requirements, annual PPD testing, flu vaccine and other vaccinations as per CHOP policy
Maintain licensure including completion of required continuing education
Collaborates with internal staff to complete CHOP requirements to include but not limited to Medical Staff Application
Establish plans for professional growth with supervisor
Participates in clinical program development
Participates in community service
Participates in ongoing professional practice evaluations as a clinician and peer reviewer

Required

High School Diploma / GED
Bachelor's Degree
Doctorate Psychology
APA or CPA Accredited internship training
Completed post-doctoral training in child and adolescent focused psychology
Excellent interpersonal skills
Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, decision-making
Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical, and administrative staff, patients and the public
Epic training
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to accept feedback and incorporate into professional growth and own performance improvement
Maintains strictest confidentiality
Licensed Psychologist (Pennsylvania) - State Licensing Board - upon hire
