Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time physician at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This role emphasizes high-quality clinical care, teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department, with responsibilities including comprehensive patient care and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient gastroenterology care, including management of liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancers, and other digestive disorders
Participate in endoscopic procedures, as appropriate to training and experience
Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and didactic settings
Engage in departmental and divisional quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including surgery, oncology, radiology, and nutrition—for optimal patient outcomes
Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and other academic programs
Qualification
Required
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology
Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
Preferred
Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment
Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
