Cellular RF Receiver Systems Engineer
Apple’s RF System Engineering team is seeking a motivated and dedicated expert to define the next generation of Cellular RF Receiver architectures. In this role, you will architect and deliver groundbreaking wireless solutions for future Apple products, working on today's 5G New Radio and groundbreaking the path to 6G.

Responsibilities
Be responsible for the definition and architecture of the control strategy for the RF receiver line-up
Break down 3GPP feature requirements into system requirements and hardware/software partitioning
Define and implement sophisticated system use cases and RF procedures
Develop and integrate RF receiver algorithms (e.g., automatic gain control) and define the supporting control infrastructure, including compute resources, interfaces, memory, and timing constraints
Collaborate with RF circuit design teams to understand timing and configuration requirements
Author detailed specifications and build reference models for firmware and software implementation teams
Contribute to the entire product lifecycle, from initial architectural concept and algorithm definition until silicon validation and mass production
Qualification
Required
Understanding of Cellular Radio/3GPP Standards (UMTS, LTE, 5G NR FR1/2, 6G) with a focus on system use cases
Deep understanding of cellular system use cases and RF/baseband interactions and procedures
BS with 3 plus years of industry experience
Expertise in microcontroller architectures used for real time operation and how to program them
Experience with HW and SW co-design and a clear understanding of trade-offs between digital HW and firmware implementations
Proven knowledge of radio receiver architectures from antenna to analog/digital base band processing
Proficiency and practical experience in Python or C++ is crucial
Experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) to improve multi-objective optimization e.g. for RF line-up optimization and definition of adaptive algorithms
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate optimally in a global, multi-disciplinary team
Preferred
PhD degree with previous work on cellular topics
5+ years of shown experience in RF, including cellular receiver architectures
Familiarity with cellular modem architectures
Knowledge of RF circuit impairments and experience modeling their system-level impact
Familiarity with RFIC design, layout considerations, and semiconductor processes
Experience with digital signal processing (DSP)
