Emergency Generator Assistant Technician
The University of Virginia's Facilities Management is seeking an Emergency Generator Assistant Technician to assist with the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in generators. The role involves providing excellent customer service while maintaining accurate records of work performed.

Responsibilities
Assist technicians with the repair and maintenance of components in diesel engines, including alternators, fuel systems, cooling and exhaust systems, lubrication systems, battery chargers, and their respective components
Utilize computerized equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine failure conditions, including mechanical faults and problems with onboard electronics and sensors
Assist technicians with diagnoses and troubleshooting of generator engine fuel system problems; and repairs and replaces fuel systems, including diesel fuel injectors, pumps, and other related components
Assist technicians with fuel polishing engine fuel tanks and system components
Assist technicians with regular preventive maintenance, checking for leaks and worn parts, taking oil samples, ordering and installing replacement parts, inspecting and adjusting the operation of equipment
Utilize hand tools and electronic testing equipment such as computerized diagnostic equipment, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and multimeters
Utilize personal protective equipment and follows safety procedures, including lockout-tagout
Assist with repairs and maintenance of electrical equipment (ATS’s, Generator alternator, and UPS’s)
Perform other job duties that may be assigned
Qualification
Required
Maintain a Valid State Driver's License
Preferred
Mechanical or Electrical trades experience
Experience related to emergency power generation systems
Manufacturer training or certification for diesel engines
