Responsibilities
Performing day-to-day lab activities, including but not limited to: Media preparation, microbe culturing, seed planting, and plant care within growth chambers
Assisting with CRISPR/Cas-mediated gene editing, including timely colony selection and transfer
Performing nucleic acid (DNA, RNA) extractions, PCR, and subsequent analysis of products via gel electrophoresis
Conducting disease bioassays, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting results to the manager
Maintaining clean, organized, and orderly laboratory spaces
Performing other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
An M.S. or B.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or a related field
Hands-on laboratory benchwork experience, including working in a sterile (aseptic) environment
Meticulous experimental data recording and record-keeping, with a proven ability to follow lab protocols, manage workflows, and accurately collect, analyze, and report data in a timely manner
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with strong attention to details
A demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively within multicultural and interdisciplinary teams
A passion for agriculture and biotechnology, combined with an eagerness to learn and a positive attitude
Preferred
Experience with plant-microbe interactions, molecular discovery, and disease resistance concepts is highly desirable
