Responsibilities
Plans, coordinates and monitors construction projects to include road construction, sidewalk construction, drainage structures, water, and sewer and reuse facilities as well as review change orders and pay requests made by contractors
Interprets construction plans, specifications and contract documents
Coordinates and monitors construction for in-house projects
Keeps written record of work completed by contractor and any problems encountered
Hand deliver notices, answer questions and alleviate concerns of the general public
Works with General Contractor coordinating water tie-ins, shut downs, pressure testing, HRS testing
Back up for locates on an 'as needed' basis
Inspects private jobs such as new developments to ensure the good health and wellbeing of the neighborhood
May require to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assigned tasks
This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED
Three years' experience in Public Works Inspection, utility/roadway construction supervision, layout work or other related work
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Knowledgeable in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
Thorough knowledge of principles, methods, materials and equipment used in road and utility construction
Thorough knowledge of regulation relative to general Public Works construction
Knowledge in effective supervisory principles and techniques
Skill in time management and organization
Ability to be adaptable to performing under frequent deadlines and or in response to emergencies
Ability to read and interpret a variety of construction plans and specifications which apply to Public Works construction
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
Ability to effectively operate necessary equipment, including but not limited to including vehicle, leveling instrument, camera, and video camera
Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions in accordance with established laws, regulations, ordinances, departmental policies and procedures
