Computational Neuroscientist

Eon Systems PBC is at the forefront of large-scale neuroscientific connectomic data collection, aiming to develop brain emulation technology. The role involves creating embodied digital twins of animals, specifically Drosophila, using physics simulations and integrating them with brain simulations to develop realistic brain models.

Biotechnology

Responsibilities

Use existing embodied fly models (e.g., Flybody, NeuroMechFly/Flygym) to simulate Drosophila melanogaster behaviors
Create compelling demonstrations of virtual flies performing tasks in a virtual environment
Customize and iterate models to achieve biologically plausible behaviors
Document all code and workflows to ensure reproducibility
Creation of virtual environments and bodies in Drosophila, and eventually mice

Qualification

PythonMuJoCoNeuroscienceScientific computingVisualization skills

Required

Extensive, hands-on experience with computational neuroscience is required
Proficiency in Python, and familiarity with scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, Matplotlib)
Experience with brain or biomechanics simulation tools (e.g., MuJoCo, the Gymnasium API, Flybody, Flygym, Brian2)
Knowledge of neuroscience, computational biology, or related fields
Strong ability to create polished and engaging visualizations

Preferred

Background in Drosophila neuroscience would be ideal
PhD or equivalent qualifications in neuroscience or related field would be ideal, but is not required
