Edge Engineer

Responsibilities

Assemble, configure, and test Roboflow edge devices for deployment (Jetson devices, servers, cameras, sensors, etc.)
Build relationships with hardware partners and systems integrators to streamline sourcing and coordinate field support
Ship devices to customers with proper documentation and configuration pre-sets
Maintain inventory of hardware components, including cables, mounts, lenses, enclosures, and more
Maintain an active parts backlog and reorder critical components as needed
Lead on-site device installations, hardware bring-up, and system validation
Perform physical mounting, sensor alignment, cabling, and PoE configuration
Ensure proper connectivity (RTSP, VPN, SSH) and integration with Roboflow’s software
Travel up to 75% to customer locations
Support customers in field troubleshooting of cameras, inference pipelines, and data uploads
Manage network setup on Linux-based edge devices (interface binding, static IPs, DHCP config)
Contribute to internal tooling and processes that increase speed and consistency of deployments
Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, wiring diagrams, and setup guides
Collaborate with product, engineering, and support teams to share field feedback and drive product improvement

Required

Hands-on hardware experience: You've worked with embedded devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson), industrial cameras, or similar hardware in field deployments
Computer vision experience: Familiarity with Roboflow or similar computer vision inference pipelines
Self-starter: You operate with autonomy in the field and know when to escalate versus when to fix it yourself
Problem-solving mindset: You're resourceful and calm when debugging issues on-site under time constraints
Excellent communicator: You write clean, helpful documentation and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
Python and Bash scripting: Able to write scripts to automate routine tasks or customize device behavior
Linux and Networking Proficiency: Comfortable with system-level debugging, interface configuration, and tools like nmcli, ifconfig, systemd, and docker

Preferred

Experience with PoE cameras (e.g., Basler, Lucid Vision) or IP camera configuration
Familiarity with manufacturing plant safety protocols and basic electrical wiring
Experience building remote monitoring or telemetry solutions for edge devices
