Nuclear Engineer
Fuse is an early-stage fusion company on a mission to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy. They are seeking a Nuclear Engineer with expertise in particle transportation, Monte Carlo simulation, and radiation shielding to support their fusion facility and ensure radiation safety in a high-energy environment.

Responsibilities
Develop and apply Monte Carlo simulations (e.g., MCNP, Geant4, FLUKA) for particle transport, shielding, and dose assessment in a fusion facility
Design and optimize radiation shielding for mixed neutron and gamma environments
Conduct experimental validation of neutron and gamma detection systems
Perform radiation transport analysis to improve system performance and safety
Develop and maintain radiation test environments for detector calibration and material testing
Support meteorological assessments related to radiation dispersion and environmental safety
Analyze radiation data for operational safety, shielding effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on fusion technology development and radiation safety initiatives
Qualification
Required
Master's or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related field
Strong experience in Monte Carlo particle transport simulations (MCNP, Geant4, FLUKA, etc.)
Hands-on experience with neutron and gamma detection techniques
Knowledge of radiation shielding, dose calculations, and safety assessments
Experience in radiation metrology and calibration techniques
Proficiency in data analysis and programming (Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.)
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CNSC, NRC, IAEA standards)
Must be able to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed
To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Experience working in a fusion/fission facilities or similar combined neutron-gamma radiation environment
Background in high-energy neutron/Gamma transport and shielding
Knowledge of advanced radiation detection technologies
