Responsibilities
Review building plans for compliance with building, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes
Perform on-site inspections for ongoing construction projects
Communicate clearly with contractors, property owners, and developers about code requirements
Issue correction notices and re-inspect as needed
Maintain thorough and organized records of all inspections and plan reviews
Stay current on building codes, local ordinances, and construction trends
Qualification
Required
Associate/Technical degree with coursework in building construction or related field
1-3 years' experience in building inspection, building construction, and building safety plan review/inspections or equivalent combination of education and experience
Possession of Residential or Commercial Building Inspector Certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC) at hire
Possession of Residential or Commercial Building Plans Examiner Certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC) at hire
Valid Driver's License of the appropriate class
Preferred
Fire Inspector I Certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC)
