TxDOT CEI Senior Field Engineer

The Senior Field Engineer will manage day-to-day operations on TxDOT projects, oversee inspection efforts, and ensure compliance with design plans and specifications while mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities
Inspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Administers KPIs and budget, reads and interprets complex contract documents to ensure compliance
Performs or oversees on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities). Responsible for tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications
Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications, identifies discrepancies or conflicts within the documents. Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Prepares weekly progress reports
Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record
Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks
Performs office engineer work when needed including but not limited to; assists change manager and project manager in contractor claims and disputes. Tracks, reviews, processes RFIs and submittals, and performs constructability reviews
Leads daily assignments, mentors, and trains employees. Monitors internal HNTB project controls as directed
Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years relevant experience
Master's degree in Engineering and 5 years relevant experience
Doctorate degree in Engineering and 4 years relevant experience
Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred
Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
American Concrete Institute (ACI)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
OSHA 10 certified
Experience in SiteManager
TxDOT CEI relevant experience
