Environmental Test Engineering Technician

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. The Environmental Test Engineering Technician will focus on environmental testing support for avionics components, contributing to test planning, execution, and validation of hypersonic avionics systems.

Responsibilities

Execute environmental tests on development, flight and qualification hardware, both onsite and offsite
Provide feedback on environmental test plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy internal and external Avionics Test requirements
Maintain and operate environmental test equipment such as vibration tables and thermal chambers
Design new environmental test instrumentation systems and support its operation
Support operations of existing environmental test instrumentation systems
Perform inspections on sensitive electronic equipment
Communicate and document test results and deviations through issue tracking systems and test reports
Knowledge and understanding of test and environmental standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc
Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments
Travel, to support the department, including driving to external environmental test houses

Required

Knowledge of, and experience with, one or more of these disciplines: electrical engineering, avionics, experimental aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration
Experience with documenting and resolving issues with Quality Assurance (QA)
Ability to clearly communicate with both verbal and written responses about technical observations, results, and discrepancies
Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals
Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred

Configuration management systems (Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, or equivalent)
Engineering programming tools (Matlab, Python or equivalent)
Experience with NI based test instrumentation systems
Experience with Curtiss-Wright KAM-500 DAS and IADS data processing software for data acquisition
Experience building test harnesses
Experience soldering
Security clearance
