Inventory Cost Accountant

Responsibilities
Monitor current stock levels, identifying discrepancies, and analyzing inventory data to understand trends and potential issues
Prepare inventory-related reports and dashboards, including inventory aging, turns, cycle count accuracy, excess/obsolete stock and reserves
Support the implementation of strategies to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize waste, and reduce holding costs
Track and support execution of cycle counts, physical inventories, and related reconciliation activities
Monitor monthly inventory transactions and reconciling discrepancies between physical and system records by running sensitive movements reports in SAP
Identify root causes of inventory variances and work with operations and warehouse teams to implement corrective actions
Support the evaluation and enhancement of inventory control processes, including documentation and standard operating procedures
Maintain and update inventory standard cost in coordination with supply chain and global finance teams
Prepare reports and analysis related to inventory returns
Prepare refurbish vs. scrapping analysis and support related process improvements
Support ERP or inventory management system updates, ensuring data accuracy and system integrity
Prepare reconciliations and journal entries related to inventory and costing accounting
Support the monthly financial close process and assist the Finance Manager and team with accounting and audit deliverables
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
1-3 years of relevant finance experience with inventory and costing
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling) required
Accounting skills, including experience with preparing reconciliations, accruals and journal entries
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, written, verbal and organizational skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel
Be willing to work 3-5 days a month in an office in Northridge, CA
Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
Preferred
Experience with SAP
Experience in the Consumer Electronics, Consumer Products or related industries
Knowledge of visualization tools and dashboards
