Senior Mechanical Engineer - Global Attraction Programs
Universal Orlando Resort is a leading entertainment company, and they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership in various engineering disciplines. The role involves guiding engineering teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and developing operational readiness for attractions.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to GAP Engineers and management. This includes teaching them how to use the Engineering System (ECN, TDs, DCN, Bulletins, SharePoint, etc.), and ensuring their documents are completed correctly
Provide knowledge of Venues’ Theory of Operations, feasibility for renovation, design, start-up integration, day-to-day operating, and improving operational readiness for all Venues
Lead as a subject matter expert on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or control systems
Review all improvements to insure they are in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations and standards including: AISC, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, JIC, NEC, and OSHA, NFPA, among others
Develop and review FMEAs and Safety Risk Assessments for new and existing Venues and Scope of Work for contracts and projects
Assists Engineering Management in the creation and modification of policies / procedures for the Engineering Department while setting tone, establishing a vision, providing direction, and enforcing polices/ procedures
Promote intra-departmental and external cooperation and or partnerships. Provide superior communication skills (Written and Verbal) with the ability to present clear, concise and appropriate information at all levels of UPR management
Develop and conduct Acceptance Test Procedures for new and existing Venues
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Technology) or equivalent
7-10 plus years of experience in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, control system design, theme park experience, etc
3 - 6 years serving as project lead engineer
Proven ability to work with Engineering Management and other management groups across UPR or other industry experience
Superior interpersonal skill and communication ability
Adhere to relevant ASTM F24 guidelines, electrical engineering standards (NFPA, ASTM, ANSI, and IEEE), and other engineering specialty disciplines
Extensive knowledge of Safety Critical Systems and development of Venue's Hazard Analysis
Subject matter expertise with integration, day-to-day operating, feasibility study development, and improving operational readiness for all UPR Venues
Demonstrated ability to successfully mentor and train Engineers, so their skills and knowledge is improved
Extensive knowledge of Special effects and Flame systems
Experience in sustaining engineering of process controls. Motion control. AC/DC Drive System, Servos, etc. Simulation and modeling techniques
FMEA, FMECA and Hazard Analysis and Risk analysis development and review
Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams by providing direction for diverse technical solutions for Venue Control Systems in a variety of Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Engineering disciplines
Strong Leadership ability for multidiscipline teams
Knowledge and experience in Network Architecture design and Security
Extensive design and development experience using Safety and non-Safety PLCs and Human Machine Interfaces. (Pilz, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, Siemens, Omron etc.)
Proficiency with troubleshooting, analytical skills, problem solving, dynamic application, controls drawings, etc
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Strong AutoCAD 13_14 Electrical skills and knowledge
Extensive design and development experience using Safety and non-Safety PLCs and Human Machine Interfaces
Knowledgeable in OSHA, UL 508A, NEC, ASTM F24 Standards, etc
Experience in Ride and Show control system in the theme park industry
Strong background in servo controls as applied to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromotive motion control system
Preferred
Masters of Science degree in Engineering or Equivalent Degree or Combination of Work Experience
Network architecture, topology and protocols for RS 232, RS 422, RS 485, Ethernet, Ethernet IP, CIP, and other proprietary forms of PC and PLC communications
Expert in systems engineering design, implementation and troubleshooting
Extensive knowledge in circuit design and development, to include power, analog, digital, FPGAs and RF circuits
Publications and presentations in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering and the Controls system field
