Storytelling and Engagement Intern (SSP) - Summer 2026

Sealaska is the Alaska Native regional corporation for Southeast Alaska, dedicated to strengthening cultural, ecological, and economic resilience across the region. The Storytelling and Engagement Intern will work with the Sustainable Southeast Partnership to develop storytelling, outreach, and engagement strategies, contributing to various creative projects that share the impact of their programs.

Responsibilities

Professional experience working with a unique collective impact network dedicated to strengthening cultural, ecological, and economic resiliency in Southeast Alaska
Storytelling and communications experience supported by a team of experienced creatives with potential to publish outputs online and in print
Experience developing value-driven social media, outreach, and storytelling outputs and strategies
Experience working with and in rural Alaska
Other duties as assigned

Required

Curiosity and passion for storytelling as a tool for driving positive social and environmental change
Proficiency in writing
Proficiency in social media platforms
Creative and skilled with demonstrated interest in storytelling and outreach. This could be in the form of art and illustration, video, social media, photography, writing, art, graphic design etc. Please include a portfolio of work when applying

Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to travel as needed
Must be 18 years old at time of hire
Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years)
Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred

Strong critical thinking and research skills
At least a 2.5 GPA
Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
