Poison Information Specialist
UF Health is seeking a Poison Information Specialist to answer telephone calls related to poisonings and provide advice on treatment and triage. The role involves participating in data collection, reporting efforts, public education programs, and research initiatives.

Responsibilities
Answer telephone calls relating to known or suspected poisonings and then advise on treatment and /or triage of patient to appropriate level of care
Also participate in data collection/reporting efforts, public education programs, and research efforts
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Must be familiar with basic aspects of pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical patient management
Possess good organizational skills
Familiar with computer data entry and retrieval
Must be able to assess severity of exposures and placate victims and families
Must be able to educate, prioritize, triage and communicate effectively with general public and health care professionals
1-2 years clinical experience
Sit for and pass the AAPCC specialist in poison information certification exam as soon as eligibility requirements are met. After three unsuccessful attempts, it will be grounds for termination
Preferred
Licensure to practice nursing, pharmacy, medicine, or physician's assistant in the State of Florida
Emergency Department or Critical Care experience preferred
