The Admissions Recruiter is responsible for recruiting and admitting students from Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, managing outreach efforts, conducting admissions presentations, and supporting recruitment programs.

Responsibilities

Includes in-field representation at school visits and college fairs, presentations, panels, and trade-style events using branded materials. Also includes direct outreach to prospective students, applicants, and influencers (e.g., guidance counselors) via phone, email, SMS, and handwritten notes
Involves planning, organizing, and participating in recruitment events such as in-market events, road shows, individual meetings, and on-campus programs. Includes event set-up, execution, and follow-up, working evenings and weekends as needed
Assisting students and families with admissions inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions. Requires consistent internet access and familiarity with admissions systems, working evenings and weekends as needed
Reviewing and evaluating applications and academic transcripts in accordance with CSU and Humboldt-specific admissions criteria. Requires accuracy and timeliness
Participating in regular metrics tracking, admissions reporting, business reviews, and professional development/training sessions
May include supporting additional programs or special projects

Required

A bachelor's degree or the equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a job-related field required with a Master's degree preferred
Two years of relevant professional experience in a market management, sales, and/or a student services program or related field. A Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience
Valid CA class C Driver's License
Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned
General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management
General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior
Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations
Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews
Ability to reason logically
Ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data
Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multisexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts
Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned
Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas Services Office

Skilled in presenting a wide range of educational opportunities and clearly explaining complex topics such as CSU admissions and college affordability
Culturally sensitive, with experience working with diverse populations, including students of color, low-income students, students with disabilities, and those of different gender identities
Able to interact in a supportive and respectful way with students, parents, and school staff in both one-on-one and group settings
Quick to learn the structure and programs of Cal Poly Humboldt
Able to perform general office tasks
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet, and databases
Open to learning and using new software tools
