Senior Renewable Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

Design and engineer utility-scale PV solar systems, energy storage, and microgrid projects between 5MW and 100MW+ in size
Provide technical expertise and support in assisting clients in planning for integrating renewable energy resources
Maintain a vast knowledge of existing and emerging technologies in planning the grid of the future
Develop engineering construction documents
Develop detailed equipment specifications
Contribute to the continual development of internal distributed energy resource engineering standards, toolsets, and work processes
Coordinating project design assignments and design teams locally and with other office locations
Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required
Contributing to or writing technical papers and reports
Conduct system studies such as arc flash, load flow, short circuit, overcurrent coordination, ampacity, and grounding studies
Coordinate communication and provide status updates to stakeholders as required
Project Management responsibilities on small to large scopes projects
Assure quality in design work by developing and following internal QA/QC methods
Assist in providing leadership, development, and mentorship to new and junior engineering personnel
Manage existing client relationships. Assists in the development of new relationships and support retention of existing relationships
Helps execute department initiatives. Drive service offerings and project strategies. Assist in development of new service offerings & enhancing existing services
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with Power Systems Focus
3+ years' experience working in the electrical engineering industry
FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Certification Required
PE (Professional Engineer) Licensure or the ability to get one within a reasonable time
Experience working in commercial & industrial electrical engineering a plus
Experience with AutoCAD, PVsyst, SKM, ETAP, SEL Relays
Experience with industry-standard design codes such as NEC, International Building Codes, International Fire Codes, and other standards relevant to the industry
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources
Possess the ability to achieve quality results, be change-oriented, foster innovation, and be a continuous learner
Possess the ability to continually identify and recommend process and/or system improvements to facilitate efficiencies
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply effective verbal and written communication skills when writing specifications, preparing technical reports, contributing to, or leading project team discussions
Ability to travel as needed (up to 5%) for team meetings, client consultations, site assessments, and construction inspections – occasional overnight travel may be required
Preferred
Master's degree in electrical engineering a plus
NABCEP certification or willingness to get one
Working knowledge of applicable NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards is highly preferred
