Stamping Manufacturing Engineer - Berea, KY

The Japan/America Society of Kentucky is a Japanese manufacturing company specializing in the automotive industry. They are seeking a Stamping Manufacturing Engineer to work onsite in Berea, KY, responsible for maintaining stamping equipment, improving operational efficiency, and developing tooling layouts.

International Affairs

Responsibilities

Repair machine and equipment defects
Identify technologies to improve operational efficiency
Determines what equipment, materials, tooling, and methods of manufacturing are needed to meet customer demand
Develops tooling layouts for stamping dies
Troubleshoot stamping dies and presses to determine root cause of failures
Work directly with the tooling engineer and quality department to develop new and more efficient dies to replace aging tooling
Develops drawings and other engineering documentation to improve manufacturing processes and product quality
Provides technical support for cost-saving projects
Develop standardized work instruction, setup procedures and supporting documentation
Comply with all environmentally safe practices and regulations
Reads all SDS’s and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or 3 years of relevant experience
3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with an emphasis in die stamping/die design
Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Knowledge of Stamping Machines and Dies i.e., Progressive, Tandem, Transfer Presses
Use of new technology and ability to improve processes and troubleshoot issues
Machine/tool improvements for Safety, operator efficiency, part quality
Meets schedules for production and launches
Improvements to existing equipment and processes
Coordinates die improvements and design changes
Maintain schedule and budget for new tools
Work with other engineers in the group to improve machine/tool reliably and safety
Ensure that machines will produce parts to meet customer demands in cost, quality, and quantity
Coordinates die trials and develop countermeasures
Assist maintenance in trouble shooting
Work with problem solving team to meet customer demands
Assist in standardizing work methods for technicians
Develop visual management for PM activities
Improve first run capability and reduce downtime
Working knowledge of production and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environment
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Reads blueprints
Uses computer software (MS Office): Excel, Word; PowerPoint
Tool design and process development
Experience on the following machines: Grinder/ Lathe/ Overhead Crane/ Various precision measuring devices
Must have previous Stamping/Tooling Experience

Preferred

Experience in CAD programs, Autodesk Inventor preferred
Candidate must possess a 'Can Do' Attitude along with excellent interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with all levels of associates
