Splicer
CI Services, a UniTek Global Services Company, is seeking a Splicer who will be responsible for both aerial and underground cable and fiber installation work. The role requires proficiency in fiber splicing, installation, and troubleshooting, along with the ability to lead in the field for fiber-related projects.
Construction
Responsibilities
Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber
Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicer, power meter and OTDR
Knowledge of applicable electronic equipment and specialty tools
Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficiently
Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required
Be available for 7day/24-hour, standby periods every 2 weeks
Climb and use ladders on poles for accessing aerial fiber plant
Perform aerial construction activities, including but not limited to, installing aerial fiber, installing fiber storage (snowshoes), completing pole transfers, and performing cleanup work
Perform underground construction activities, including pulling new cable/fiber through conduits, digging up and repairing damaged conduit and underground vaults or pedestals
Ability to travel and stay overnight within the coverage area
Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Perform other related duties as required

Qualification
Required
Mid-level to senior level construction worker experience
Ability to perform both aerial and underground cable and fiber installation work
Experience splicing fiber
Good working knowledge of aerial and underground rules and regulations
Ability to undertake a lead and/or foreman role in the field for both aerial and underground fiber related work
Experience working with DWDM light meters, OSAM's, tunable light sources, OTDR, CWDM, DWDM, single channel and mux wave management
Experience with piggy backed parent/child enclosure setups, FTTu, FTTh, RFoG, Matrix CREATION, Fiber as-built's and terminology
Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDRs, OSAMs, Fiber Identifiers, scopes and proper fiber standards and practices
Familiarity with OLT/PON cards and equipment
Patch panel and relay rack management experience
Fiber connector preparation and care experience
