Youth Life Skills Coach, Part time
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing healing, justice, and wholeness to individuals and communities. The Youth Life Skills Coach will be responsible for providing direct skills coaching and teaching to children in the Treatment Foster Care Program, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to support their development.

Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one behavioral coaching and teaching to children in the Treatment Foster Care Program
Work closely with other team members to identify the specific skill(s) the child needs to work on, including the method(s) for teaching the skill, as well as monitoring and rewarding the child’s progress
Work collaboratively with team members to provide prosocial skill development for the child through instruction, practice and coaching
Accompany and supervise child on activities and outings in the community to provide mentoring and recreation focusing on specific behaviors and skills the child needs to learn and practice, applying principles for social learning theory, developmental psychology and trauma-informed care
Participate in weekly clinical meeting and trainings, as required
Complete and submit Medicaid compliant progress notes within required timeframes and any other agency required reports related to service provision
Participate in the supervisory process for guidance, direction, support, and approval of decision-making, assessment, service planning and intervention. Presents cases for staffing or participate in staffing as needed, including weekly team meetings
Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS required
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to provide services using a team approach
Good organizational, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software
Valid driver's license, in good standing for the state of residency required
Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage required
Access to reliable transportation required
Preferred
Associates degree or completion of some college credits preferred
Experience completing notes in Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred
Experience motivating children, their families and foster parents to participate in a highly detailed treatment model preferred
