Property & Casualty Claims Manager

Standard Communities is a leading owner, investor, and developer of affordable and middle-income housing. They are seeking a highly skilled Claims Manager to oversee property and liability claims across their national real estate portfolio, managing complex claims and ensuring compliance with policy terms and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end claims process for property and liability incidents, including intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution
Coordinate with internal legal counsel, outside attorneys, brokers, carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and other stakeholders, as needed
Ensure timely and accurate claims reporting and compliance with policy terms and regulatory requirements
Monitor and analyze claims trends to identify risk mitigation opportunities
Maintain claims records and prepare regular reports for senior leadership
Support litigation management, including addressing discovery requests, and settlement negotiations, as needed
Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on claims-related reserves and recoveries
Participate in insurance program renewals, acquisitions and divestitures, and provide claims data as well as analysis and insights on material claims trends

Required

Minimum 5–7 years of experience managing property and liability claims, preferably in-house at a mid-sized to large company, claims management firm, or full-service insurance company
Strong understanding of insurance programs with large deductibles/retentions and captive structures
Strong understanding of litigation process
Proficiency working with claims management platforms and data management technologies
Experience in handling sensitive claims and working with legal teams
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor's degree required; CPCU, ARM, or other relevant certifications a plus

Preferred

Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to claims resolution
Strong project management skills and experience
Experience working with senior management
Enjoys working in a mission-driven organizations
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
High level of discretion and professionalism
Prior experience as litigation paralegal is helpful but not necessary
