Network Field Service Engineer II

The Network Field Service Engineer II is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing SURTASS mission equipment while supporting Fleet requirements and ensuring accurate inventory and technical library maintenance.
Responsibilities
Standing watch in the SURTASS Operations Center (SOC) onboard SURTASS vessels to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair SURTASS mission equipment, supporting Fleet requirements, including maintaining all required records and logs and monitoring and sending record Naval Message Traffic
Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on all SURTASS mission equipment in accordance with the PMS and other reference documents, as required
Utilizing the WILD trouble ticket application to log all maintenance trouble tickets for action in the JSN/WKRQ log, which shall include all applicable labor, external technical assistance, parts, and time expended
Maintaining an accurate logistics inventory as provided by the Government, and provide periodic updates to the Product Support Facility (PSF)
Operating the shipboard test equipment pool used with SURTASS mission equipment, including ensuring it is in calibration through early and frequent coordination with the PSF
Maintaining a technical library on each ship to support all SURTASS mission equipment
Qualification
Required
Requires an associate's degree in computer science, or be a graduate of US Navy Information Systems Technicians “A” school or equivalent civilian information technology school
Three (3) years of practical hands-on experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data networks, digital computers, microprocessors, cloud computing environments, and distributed data systems
Demonstrated experience in Radio Frequency (RF) solutions, network security, Quality of Service (QOS), and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) for current and future shipboard networking systems required
Must be able to troubleshoot network connectivity issues, repair hardware, and perform daily tasks such as status reports, asset tracking, and generating/resolving trouble tickets
Demonstrated experience with updating systems, including operating systems, networking and storage templates, server design, storage allocation, and virtualization
Must be able to stage, image, and deploy laptop and desktop machines, as well as, migrating data
Demonstrated experience in developing network automation solutions and experience with new network technologies including voice, automation, and other network technologies
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
Security+ certificate or Cisco Security
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent
Operating System certifications for Configuring Windows 10 (70-697) and Configuring Windows Server 2012 (70-410)
Preferred
Two years of combined experience in the management, administration, maintenance, and repair of UNIX/LINUX and Windows based computer networks, including: ISNS, CANES, ADNS, CENTRIXS, and/or SCI Navy systems (or equivalent type network)
Windows based network management and administration
Cisco routing and switching, and server and router configuration and management
UNIX/LINUX based processing systems management
