Software Engineer, Financial Operations
Upstart is the leading AI lending marketplace partnering with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit. They are seeking a Software Engineer to join their Financial Operations Engineering team, focusing on developing scalable systems for financial planning and reporting.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and maintain systems that support finance, accounting, and treasury functions
Assist in the design and implementation of automation tools to streamline financial workflows and reduce manual effort
Work with business stakeholders to understand financial requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Contribute to the building of APIs, data pipelines, and integrations with third-party financial tools
Ensure data integrity, security, and scalability of financial platforms
Participate in code reviews, testing, and the deployment of high-quality code
Support ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of financial systems to ensure reliability and performance
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend engineering, distributed systems, and APIs
Experience with some or many of the following: Kotlin, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, Vercel
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying applications in a cloud native environment
Experience with microservices architecture and real-time data processing pipelines (Kafka, Spark, or similar)
Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL and data warehousing solutions
Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred
Experience in building financial, accounting, or treasury systems or similar enterprise applications
Prior experience or demonstrated enthusiasm for working on internal tools
History of thriving in a variety of work environments: both collaborative and self-directed; remote and in-person
