Assistant Professor - Computer Security

Farmingdale State College is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Security starting in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in various aspects of computer security and engage in research, student advisement, and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in Computer Security and Security Systems, including computer security, digital forensics, cryptography, operating systems security, biometrics, ethical hacking, artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, and other related courses
Engage in grant development work and research leading to publications in refereed academic journals
Demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching
Participate in student advising and service activities, including participation on committees

Required

Doctoral degree in Computer Security, Computer Science or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, provided the doctorate is conferred by the time of appointment

Expertise or interest in the areas of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud security, and/or vulnerability analysis
Evidence of prior teaching experience and scholarly publications
