Responsibilities

Assist with design and evaluation of automation and control systems
Design, research, and update the graphical user interfaces utilized by operators to improve production workflow
Participate in Continuous Improvement and process documentation projects
Learn to navigate, develop, and troubleshoot HMI software and assist in integrating new process equipment (such as safety lasers, proximity switches, robotics, and PLCs) into the HMI environment
Test and monitor systems to ensure functionality, address issues, and adjust automated processes as needed
Develop an understanding of steelmaking process and how control systems drive operational excellence
Build skills in project management and professional communication through regular status updates and team collaboration
Propose design changes and improvements for future automation projects
Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements

Qualification

Required

Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Electrical/Controls Engineering or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore level
Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
Team-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities

Preferred

Training in PLC languages
Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft SQL, Wonderware InTouch
