Responsibilities
Position patient and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by provider
Explain procedures to allow for understanding, cooperation and to reduce anxiety of patient
Administer appropriate pharmaceuticals pursuant to procedure, place IV's and administer enemas as required
Practice radiation protection techniques by using beam restrictive devices and applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to the patient, staff and others as necessary
Obtain acceptable images using appropriate techniques and protocols
Acquire and disseminate patient information data for exam order using Hospital EMR System
Appropriately document information in patient charts as required or necessary
Perform quality control checks to ensure proper operating status
Maintains examination rooms and stock necessary supplies pursuant to established protocols
Qualification
Required
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Current CPR Certification
6 months to 1 year of related experience
Working knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols
Working knowledge of DR exposure techniques and protocols
Working knowledge of Computerized Tomography and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging technical principles and procedures
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Ability to properly administer pharmaceuticals intravenously for imaging procedures
Knowledge of sharps usage practices and techniques
Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Ability to integrate the analysis of data to discover facts or develop knowledge, concepts or interpretations
Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner
Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data
