Responsibilities

Develop power distribution system models to understand how generation sources can be best designed to support reliable power delivery
Develop distribution system models in virtual simulation environments as well as in a hardware-in-the-loop platform

Required

Candidates who are in the process of earning a B.S., M.S., and or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or other engineering discipline will be considered
Preliminary coursework in power systems, power flow, and knowledge of power system controls
Fluency with Python scripting, MATLAB, and MATLAB Simulink
Exposure to modern power systems concepts and challenges (e.g., energy storage or renewable energy integration and protection)
Strong problem-solving skills
Detail oriented, able to multi-task, and have the ability to work autonomously for subsets of the summer
Effective written and oral communications skills in technical environments
Familiarity with power flow simulation tools, most notably, EasyPower
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance
U.S. citizenship is required
