Lead Packer (3rd Shift)
J&J Snack Foods is a leader and innovator in the snack food industry, providing branded snack foods to foodservice and retail outlets across the U.S. The Lead Packer will oversee packing operations, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards while training and supporting other employees in the Packing Department.

Responsibilities
Emphasize policy, procedures, and culture consistent with the Shift Supervisor’s direction that control and improve:
Production yield and efficiency of facility against standard
Safety
Leadership
Cleanliness
Food safety and quality
Adherence to SOP’s
Employee ownership and understanding of product and process and overall teambuilding
Employee welfare
Continuously take independent action, perform the daily paperwork, and provide corrective action recommendations to the Production Manager in the areas of:
Safety
Quality
Cleanliness
Yield & Efficiency
Maintain their area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
Enforce company rules in a fair and consistent manner
Report broken or inoperable equipment to the Shift Supervisor
Report unsafe equipment or areas Shift Supervisor. Take immediate correction action if warranted
Start the lines on time
Effect Changeovers in a timely fashion
Schedule labor for full time and agency employees
Work with the temporary labor provider to fill daily shortages
Report time and attendance infractions to the Shift Supervisor
Maintain strong interdepartmental communication that facilitates goals
Report recommended changes to written production standards/specifications to reflect actual process to the Shift Supervisor
Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures
Responsible for food safety and quality
Other tasks as assigned
Verify throughout the shift:
Adherence to the written production specifications and formulas
Efficiency (cases per hour)
Yield (cases per lb)
That in process documents are in compliance, are accurate, and in the proper frequency
Employees are in specified areas and labor has met specification guidelines
That breaks and lunches are timely and in accordance with the shift
Cleanliness
Develop subordinates' ability to understand, manage, and affect the department in a positive professional way by ensuring that all employees (as required) have been trained in the areas of:
OSHA regulated programs
Food Defense, GMP’s, HAACP, CCP Procedures
Quality
Cleanliness
Communicable Disease Policy
Reading and understanding production specifications
Understanding and recording of data on process documents
Qualification
Required
Skilled knowledge of product lines
Ability to perform all tasks without guidance or supervision
Ability to provide training and support to other peers
Ability to aid in the training, processes, and procedures for all employees in the Packing Department
Ability to institute the direction and goals of the Shift Supervisor
Emphasize policy, procedures, and culture consistent with the Shift Supervisor's direction
Ability to maintain yield, efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and safety
Ability to take independent action and perform daily paperwork
