Responsibilities

Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures
Demonstrates competent and proficient use of the Hospital Picture Achieving System (PACS) as observed by the supervisor and Radiologist
Performs test and maintenance procedures on equipment and apparatus
Regularly checks equipment for operational readiness, safety and accuracy as indicated by random review of maintenance log
Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for administration and administers to patient
Readies radiopharmaceuticals in accordance to prescribed dose as observed by Radiologist
Maintains records in accordance with NRC license/Regulatory guidelines for radiation safety
Completes required records as outlined by the NRC license as indicated by random quarterly review of records
Monitors Hot Lab and department radiation levels
Performs wipe test in all areas of department according to protocol as observed by supervisor
Orders supplies and radiopharmaceuticals as required
Maintains an efficient level of inventory as observed by supervisor
Instructs Hospital personnel on proper handling of isotopes and procedures in the event of contamination
Willingly and conscientiously provides instruction to other personnel as assigned and observed by supervisor
Assists with the training of new staff, residents and students
Participates in the orientation of new staff, students and radiology residents as required and observed by supervisor
Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients
Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff
Accurately enters all applicable information and charges for procedures
Enters all patients ordered information into the RIS according to department protocol as observed by the manager
Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan
Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor
Chaperone patients when necessary
