Responsibilities

Manage daily activities related to corrosion control for the Kinder Morgan Terminal’s Mid-West Region
Assist with and hire contractors assessing pipe-to-soil surveys
Inspect, repair and replace rectifier units and ground beds
Test lead installation and repair
Test shorted insulators and perform shorted casing repairs
Conduct CIS remedial work and installation/removal of coupons
Monitor regulatory compliance and perform other duties as required
Recognize and report abnormal and safety related operating conditions
Perform accident and near miss reporting and emergency response procedures
Maintain corrosion control records and speak to regulatory agencies about Kinder Morgan corrosion control practices and corrective actions for any deficiencies found

Required

High school Diploma or equivalent
Nace/AMMP Cathodic Protection Level I is required within one year of hiring
Ability to effectively and efficiently perform job description requirements, including those identified above
Experience in managing and/or implementing corrosion control programs in the gas or liquids pipeline industry including but not limited to cathodic protection and internal corrosion
Knowledge of various types of below grade and atmospheric coatings
Working knowledge of applicable regulations (such as 49 CFR Part 195) and applicable industry organization standards and recommended practices (such as NACE, SSPC, ASME, etc.)
Must be capable of developing and revising practical and effective company procedures, standards, processes and best practices
Must be accountable and manage activities to keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow policies and procedures
Must have strong analytical skills and logical thought processes
Must be self-motivated and goal oriented
Must have exceptional verbal and writing communication skills
Must speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully
Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment, consistently maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor / attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies
Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Must have ability and willingness to effectively organize and prioritize daily work
Must have ability and willingness to work with a team, take directions from supervisor(s), with a high degree of attention to details, follow work rules and adhere to established work schedules
Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
Overnight(s) travel can/may be required for support anywhere in Terminals business unit
Physical ability to lift as much as 40lbs, bend/stoop, kneel and climb stairs/ladders
Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Be available for and provide Emergency Response after regular business hours which may require carrying a communication device
