Responsibilities
Source, quote, negotiate, and place purchase orders for a wide range of commodities including: Custom machined parts, cable and wire harnesses, PCBs, box builds, and precision subassemblies
Ensure materials and services comply with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485)
Identify and assist in qualifying new suppliers, with a focus on medical-grade component vendors
Maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct vendor visits, and support performance improvement initiatives
Monitor supplier performance on quality, cost, delivery, and service metrics
Collaborate with engineering to support prototype development, resolve part obsolescence, and implement engineering change orders (ECOs)
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding order status, delays, or potential risks
Perform cost analysis, support make/buy decisions, and contribute to cost-reduction initiatives
Expedite orders and manage lead times to ensure uninterrupted production flow
Participate in root cause and corrective action processes for non-conforming materials
Maintain purchasing documentation to meet internal quality system and regulatory requirements
Compile and present purchasing metrics and cost savings data
Support audits and inspections as required
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; or equivalent work experience
4–6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within a medical device or other regulated manufacturing environment
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, NetSuite)
Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Excel, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time
Typical office and manufacturing environment
Required use of standard office equipment including laptop, phone, copier, etc
Preferred
Strong working knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, or other quality management systems
Familiarity with low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments
Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
