Responsibilities
Demonstrates technical expertise and competence for all assigned tasks. Performs testing according to SOP
Maintains extensive knowledge of instrument and equipment, including routine operation, proper working order, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
Performs, evaluates and documents required quality control procedures; documents remedial action or acceptance of out of control results. Performs quality assurance activities as directed by supervisor
Uses good analytical judgment and problem solving skills to evaluate test results. Accurately reports test results. Notifies supervisor of problems and follows up as directed
Determines acceptability of specimens maintains positive identification and resolves and documents any discrepancies
Demonstrates a working knowledge of laboratory information system, including basic routines and other menus. Generates, reviews and acts on reports as required by laboratory protocol
Participates in training and orientation of staff
Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies and reagents; controls and ensures proper storage and disposition
Communicates critical values according to laboratory procedures
Evening shift employees must work their scheduled weekend rotation (nights) and also be available to support other vacant night shift assignments in instances of labor shortage (SH Main lab only)
Day shift employees must work their scheduled weekend rotation (day) and also support evening vacant shifts in instances of labor shortage (SH Main lab only)
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Saratoga Hospital values
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support health, healing, and service excellence
Perform administrative responsibilities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency
Use hospital systems and tools to document care and support operations
Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and support patient and staff satisfaction
Serve as a positive, professional representative of our hospital and community
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science required
Licensed by NYS Department of Education as CLS or NYS CLS Limited Permit
If Limited Permit must obtain NYS CLS Licensure within 12 months of start
Currently registered with NYSED
NYS DOH supervisor eligible required for MMA and WMA off site locations
Strong communication and teamwork skills
