The QA Inspector I will perform inspections on raw materials and components to ensure quality standards are met, utilizing precision measuring instruments and maintaining inspection records.

Responsibilities

Conduct mechanical inspections on raw materials, incoming parts, and subassemblies from suppliers and subcontractors, first-run, random and final inspection working to prescribed tolerances

Make visual and dimensional checks of raw materials, forgings, machined and fabricated parts, components, sub-assemblies, paintings and coatings, heat treating, final assemblies, tooling and returned items to assure quality production

Perform in-process inspection on the paint line and the galvanizing department. Perform Magnetic Particle, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic inspections on castings, forgings, and weldments for receiving inspection and work in progress

Confer with QA Manager or Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor on rejects, determining the need for rework of parts or components and other problems detected through inspection

Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, scales, calipers, and pertinent gages

Provide inspection reports and maintain required inspection records

May conduct inspection of items at outside vendors regarding quality of processed or purchased items

Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of receiving dock inventory

Inspect final assemblies for shipment
