St. Bonaventure University is seeking a tenure-track faculty member for the Adolescence Education program within the School of Education. The role involves teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, advising students, and contributing to curriculum development, as well as engaging in professional growth and institutional service.

Responsibilities

Teach in the Adolescence Education programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and provide supervision for teacher candidates in clinical experience
Advise students, contribute to curriculum and program development, participate in school-wide assessment and accreditation efforts, and provide service and outreach to the School of Education, university, and external community stakeholders, including school districts
Active involvement in state, regional, and/or national professional associations will also be strongly encouraged and supported
Teaching, including the preparation of course syllabi and classes, the preparation and grading of examinations, the supervision of laboratories and other practica, and the direction of theses, honor projects, and independent study work
Post and observe office hours for purposes of academic advising and student consultation. Meet with students as needed by appointment
Advise and assist students during the ongoing registration process
Maintain general knowledge of degree requirements, programs and course transfer information
Participation in activities (usually through committee work) designed to advance the mission and quality of the University, School, and Departmental programs
Attendance at Department, School, and general Faculty and University meetings including commencements, convocations, and other official University exercises
Maintain a program of personal and professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility
Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines
Research, publication, and professional activity within one's field of specialization or otherwise directed towards the University's mission

Required

A Doctoral degree in Secondary Education or Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related discipline, candidates who are ABD will be considered
Minimum of 5 years' 7-12 teaching experience with diverse learners (i.e., emergent bilingual students, students with disabilities, students from high poverty backgrounds, and/or culturally and linguistically diverse students, etc.) in urban and/or rural environments
Current teacher certification for grades 7-12 is required, certification in additional areas, such as Literacy and/or special education certification strongly encouraged
Knowledge and experience with P-12 school-based teacher education programs
Computer literacy and familiarity with course design and teaching, and knowledgeable of technological trends and best practices in schools
Clear evidence of an active research agenda and scholarship or strong potential for research activity and publication
Previous or current experience with higher education teaching and curriculum development
Must hold teacher certification in a 7-12 content area
Evidence-based P-12 teaching experience in a general education classroom with a strong ability to meet the needs of diverse learners particularly with emergent bilingual students in urban and/or rural environments, and/or TESOL learners
Evidence-based instructional design experience for face-to-face and/or online or hybrid formats
Working knowledge and experience with assessment and accreditation, including familiarity with state, regional, professional, and national standards for teacher preparation
Demonstrated experience with building and sustaining school and community partnerships
Familiarity with grant development and implementation

Preferred

Teacher certification and experience in a STEM field preferred
A minimum of 3 years' experience in teacher preparation is preferred
Scholarly interest or expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantitative and qualitative research design and statistics, assessment and accreditation, curriculum development and instruction, educational technology, multicultural education, second language acquisition and learning, critical pedagogy and practices, human development, school-based counseling, and/or educational leadership
