MUSEUM FACILITY OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
NEOGOV is seeking a Museum Facility Operations Assistant to join the City of Brownwood's Transportation Museum team. In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation of the museum and visitor center while providing exceptional service to guests and assisting with various events and activities.

Responsibilities
Conduct Clerical Duties: Handle administrative tasks for the museum and gift shop, including managing files, financial records, collecting money and answering phone calls
Visitor Engagement: Lead tours for visitors, sharing the museum's storyline and historical research while assisting walk-ins with planning their visit and local event information
Exhibit Maintenance: Assist in building museum exhibits under supervisory direction and ensure cleanliness of the museum building interior, exhibits, furniture, and artifacts
Building Operations: Open and close the Museum & Visitor Center for weekday and weekend activities or meetings, maintain heating, cooling, and public address systems, and set up tables and chairs for events
Facility Management: Collect fees from museum users, handle facility rentals, admissions, and merchandise sales, as well as manage department rentable spaces and scheduling
Event Support: Assist with event planning, convention sales, and servicing, including setting up equipment, furnishings, and fixtures for various activities and cleaning up afterward
General Maintenance: Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming carpets, collecting trash, cleaning restrooms, dusting displays, and assisting with laundry and steaming
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, record meeting minutes, provide efficient follow-up, and utilize Community Facilities Software for event communication
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Valid Texas Driver's License
Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various locations
Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms and sweep
Ability to walk over sloped & uneven terrain
Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public
Ability to understand verbal and written communication
Required to work overtime, night shifts, weekend on-call, and holidays
Benefits
Pay will increase by 3% after successful completion of 6-month probationary period.
Additional $4 a month (max $150mo) based on number of years with the City.
Additional $25-$125 per month based on position and certification level.
Additional $53-$106 per month based on frequency of on-call status.
12 paid holidays—New Years, MLK Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after (2 days), and Christmas and Christmas Eve or day after (2 days).
Paid vacation leave available after 6 months, accrues at the rate of 10 days per year. (Every 5 years it increases 1 day up to 15 per year.)
Paid sick leave available after 6 months, accrues at the rate of 15 days per year. Other leaves—Funeral, Military, FMLA and other leaves are available as well.
Health coverage through Texas Health Benefits Poole (TXHB), with BlueCross BlueShield of Texas as the provider, is offered to employees at no cost, and includes vision, prescription, life insurance and a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) Benefits Debit Card.
Coverage is also available for purchase for family members. Additional life insurance is available for purchase based on your annual salary and age.
The Retirement Plan is through Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). The plan vests after 5 years of service, and retirement is after 20 years of service, or age 60. Participation is required, with 7% retirement contributions deducted from your paycheck. The City matches your contribution at a 2 to 1 ratio (14%), and interest is added annually to your account.
