Responsibilities
Conducts independent research
Prepares results for publication
Presents results at national and international conferences
Teaches one class at the undergraduate or graduate level; and
Engages in mentoring and outreach activities
Qualification
Required
Terminal degree in a related field
Relevant research experience either through PhD work or through other research projects
Knowledge of mathematics that complements current strengths of the department
Knowledge of conducting independent research in mathematics
Skilled at teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
Ability to navigate scientific publishing processes
Ability to write, speak, and listen to communicate effectively
Ability to work as an effective team member
English proficiency
Ability to read and comprehend relevant scientific literature
Ability to use sound judgment to effectively solve problems within the scope of the position
Preferred
Preference will be given to applicants in areas of applied and pure mathematics who employ computational approaches in their research
Preference will be given to applicants whose research interests align with those of the department and who have expertise in one or more areas of mathematics that complements current strengths of the department
Preference will be given to applicants able to facilitate effective team work, manage day-to-day operations within the workplace, and interested in pursuing leadership opportunities
