Capital One is changing banking for good and is looking for a Sr. Director of Technical Program Management (AI/ML) to lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large-scale products and platforms. The role involves building solid platforms on mobile and web surfaces to enhance customer experiences and expanding the TPM discipline within the team.

Responsibilities

Lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms

Build solid platforms on mobile and web surfaces that will help Capital One customers have incredible experiences

Work to pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team

Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle

Build and lead a world-class team of technical program managers

Lead technology focused discussions with senior leadership

Provide valuable insights and recommendations that guide technology-based decisions

Simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives

Grow and develop a team of TPMs

Build the foundations for the TPM practice

Collaborate across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries

Ensure deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results

Required

At least 9 years of experience in technical program management

Bachelor's degree

Preferred

9+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing

At least 2 years of experience with the full ML development lifecycle using modern technology in a business critical setting. Previous experience with machine learning (building models, deploying models, setting up cloud infrastructure and/or data pipelines) and familiarity with major ML frameworks such as XGBoost, PyTorch, AWS SageMaker, etc

5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS

5+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms

5+ years of experience with Agile delivery

5+ years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact

Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment

Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)

ML industry impact through conference presentations, papers, blog posts, open source contributions, or patents

MBA or Master's Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience
