Senior Heavy Equipment Operator - CDL

The City of Waco is seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Heavy Equipment Operator - CDL to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating various heavy machinery and will be responsible for leading a field crew in street, roadway, and infrastructure maintenance.

Responsibilities

Coordinates the activities of a work crew repairing and maintaining streets, roadways, and infrastructure; estimates materials required for assignments, stages, materials and equipment, assigns work and operates specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment; duties may vary according to job assignment
Inspects vehicles, equipment and tools; repairs, maintains and adjusts equipment; maintains daily work logs; trains work crew and controls work projects to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed; established the work zone and enforces compliance with all safety regulations and PWD procedures; recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries
Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with resident, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work related issues and City information
May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City wide emergency
Performs other related duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards

Heavy equipment operationClass A CDLTanker endorsementSafety complianceLeadership

Required

HS Diploma or GED equivalent
Two years experience in heavy equipment operations in all types of road maintenance
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License is required at the time of interview. Tanker endorsement will be required within 180 days of employment
Specialized training and licensing upon hire required
