Sr. System Design Engineer, Drive Systems
Tesla is looking for a world class Senior System Design Engineer to join their Drive System Engineering team. The role involves developing new control strategies, running simulations, and managing large-scale data analysis to improve the performance of Tesla Drive System products.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement new controls to optimize system level interactions
Run simulations to validate impact and drive direction of design and software changes
Maintain and develop architecture and unit testing for several simulation workflows
Implement and manage custom data analytics to track and identify failure modes across our global fleet
Generate test plans to both validate requirements and characterize performance of early prototypes, mass production units and future products
Work with engineering teams to compile, analyze and document test profiles and results to ensure complete validation of all requirements as programs mature
Perform component and drive unit testing including dyno and environmental testing
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
Strong experience in simulation, data analysis, and unit testing with Python and MATLAB/Simulink
Experience with SQL and large-scale data analysis
Experience creating and executing design validation plans and test methods to validate performance requirements
Working knowledge of power electronics systems like traction inverters
Working knowledge of heat transfer and thermal management
Working knowledge of motors and gearboxes
Preferred
Experience with environment management (git, Docker, virtual environments)
Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems
